There has been a major filming issue which has affected us drastically, the weather over the half term has been absolutely horrendous, and as a result we have not done as much filming as we would of liked, the weather caused the environments we wanted to film in to be too dark, with it being too dark it would have affected the quality of our video.
we were due to film on Monday and Tuesday and could not on Wednesday as our group was busy, Monday and Tuesday where set filming days but our group failed to look at the weather forecast before the actual day arrives, from this we have learnt that when we book the cameras out, check the weather forecast first!

Research into film classification
My group decided to research what classification our trailer is going to get, we feel as though this is a very important part of marketing a movie, as without the correct classification you are not going to get as much money as possible for your film, and it may not target the correct audience.
We researched classification for our movie trailer and we have found that a trailer for a movie can get a different classification to the actual movie, we used the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) to look at the guidelines for different ages so we could find a suitable classification for our movie.
We have decided to choose 12A, 12 for out movie trailer and for the movie we would make it a 15 classification
When looking at the 12 classification it states 'Imitable behaviour - Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied, or appear pain or harm free. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised.' we feel as though the actual movie that would follow on from the trailer will have dangerous behaviour in it, such as the main character being chased by a group of men wanting to hurt him.
The BBFC say ' Violence - Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context. Sexual violence may only be implied or briefly and discreetly indicated, and must have a strong contextual justification.' we have come to the conclusion that there will be very little violence in our movie trailer, and will most certainly not dwell on detail, however if a full theatrical movie was made after the trailer, it would most certainly dwell on detail when there is moderate violence. No blood will be shown in the trailer and very little amount in a full movie.
I feel as though my trailer is going to fit into the 12A/12 classification before making this decision we looked at classification of 15 rated films and how they are classified.
The 15 classification is stated that imitable behaviour is the same as it is in the 12 classification, this allows our trailer to fall into the 12a/12 catergory however the violence is slightly higher in that 'it may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable.' therefore, the intensity of the violence may be higher than it would be in a 12. our trailer can be classified as a 15 as it is very unlikely that strong violence will be shown in such a short amount of time.

Possible Candidates for Main Character
These are the possible candidates for my groups movie trailer, and those who we dont use as the main character will be asked to be extra, we have chosen these to be the candidates as they all seem to have reletivly masculin features and from our market research in which we videod we have gathered that a man would best suit the role of being the main character. they are all average height.

Possible Tag lines.
My group has come up with possible tag lines for my movie, these tag lines will be used on the trailer, poster and magazine front cover, and the tag line has to be very effective as it sort of like sums up the movie in one line.
'Answering to the unknown'
'Running from the inevitable'
'Living the impossible'
'Would you run the risk?'
We've tried to make the tag lines short and snappy as these are most likely to appeal to the audience and is the most eye catching, we have tried not to bore the audience with long, time consuming tag lines. The shorter the tagline the little thought process that has to go into looking at it which is a lot more effective, using a tagline is following the codes and conventions of other magazines as most have included a tag line
Using a tagline is going to be effective in our genre and poster and trailer as according to market research, a tag line is one of the top answers when we asked ' what sort of information would you like to see on a psychological thriller poster ' so we have had to think very carefully about the tag line we are going to use, we shall perhaps do market research on which of the above taglines we should use and which would be most effective for our genre of film.and most are 4-5 words long for example, jumpers tagline is 'anywhere is possible'

Bourne Identity Trailer Analysis
Here is the link to the trailer of the bourne identity I couldnt embed the trailer because the owner of the film had taken embedding rights from youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD-uQreIwEk
At the beginning of the trailer the audience is introduced to the institutional information so if they have heard or watched any films made by the production company before then they will know what this movie is going to be like. so for example the production company of 'the dark knight' is warner bros, if you liked warner bros, and know what they're filmes are like then you know what's instore for you in the trailer.
It's like brand recognition, you wouldnt buy a phone which is exactly the same as an Iphone but didnt have the apple on the back of it. but you would buy an Iphone with an apple on the back because you know that it's going to be good through the brand and trademark
it's the same in films if you watch 2 films by the same producer then chances are they are going to be alike and you are going to take some sort of appeal to them both.
Action scenes in the movie start off quite early which is going to signify that the trailer and the final movie when its out is going to be quite action orientated and you can expect quite alot of fast editing, fast fades. The use of putting the action scenes at the beginning is it's going to quickly build interest for the viewer and its going to quickly make their decision as to whether to carry on watching or not, now depending on target audience will decide whether they're going to carry on watching or not, and in this case it doesnt really matter to the producer as they already have a target audience in mind.
But the use of action scenes in the begginning of the trailer is showing us it's going to be a young to middle aged target audience. as stereotypically they're going to enjoy a fast paced action packed film more than someone in their 50's.
Intensity is exaggerated as some of the action shots are slowed down. The fact that some of these action shots are in slow motion may actually draw the audience in even more because they're going to want to know what happens and it may not be happening fast enough which could leave them on 'the edge of their seats'
Camera angles and shots are used very well throughout the trailer, the director has made sure that mid shots have been used correctly so that when a mid shot is shown of a character, the audience know that this character in particular is more than likely going to be important.
In a particular part of the trailer a high angled shot of the main character has been used, this is particulary well done as it gives the audience a feeling that he is being watched by someone. it then turns into a CCTV shot, which could further back up the fact that the main character is so important.

The importance of font for movie trailer.
Choosing the right font type for your company logo is not just about recognisability and being able to see it properly, although this is important.
take disney for example. the D at the beginning, clearly does not look like a D, it looks more like a G, and the Y at the end definatly looks like a P, and because there content is aimed at a much younger audience, they're going to grow up with these thoughts in mind which could be bad for the company, just because of their logo.
choosing a font for my logo is also about choosing a font that communicates the right message to my target audience. for example if my film was about something like construction, most people would probably find it more than just a little curious if your company logo had elegant swinging letters. it would have to be big and bulkey, which could be connotations of contrustion, I will have to take things like this into account when deciding my font for my movie trailer.

Market Research Part 1
Market Research
- Whilst watching a Sci-fi Thriller, what lets you know it is in fact Sci-fi
- Do you find sci-fis entertaining or appealing. Sci-fi being stuff like jumper
Need appropriate name for film. Ideas? -apparition – too horror sort of name, sounds too scary and dark.
Conveyance, transference??
Transference is more technological. But too long
Reverberation.
Need a tag line for film, ‘films under the genre sci-fi thriller or just thriller’ –
Tag line for jumper - anywhere is possible.
Anywhere. Anything. Instantly.
Tag line for transporter 1,2,3
- Rules are made to be broken
- The Best In The Business Is Back In The Game.
- If You Need It To Arrive Safe and In One Piece -- Hire A Professional
Tag line for Tron
- The only way to win is to survive.
Tag line for transformers
- Only one team will transform your summer.
Production Company Mock ups
I have drawn some mock ups for my production company and print screened my production process of them, I have not print screened the production process of all my mock ups as some of them are basically the same process to make, just with different fonts and colours.
This was my first draft of a logo for my production company and institutional informtion. you can clearly see how my skills devlop on photoshop as I keep changing and making new production companies, this was probably the most simplistic of my logos, but it just wasnt right, it didnt have the feel of the genre of our movie, which is a thriller mixed with sci-fi. it was too brightly coloured and the text didnt go with the genre of the film and wouldnt produce a clear synergy throughout our trailer.
This was my second attempt at a logo and again it's too 'child like' and brightly coloured which isnt the look im going for in our trailer.
This Logo looks as though someone who has very basic skills and knownledge of photoshop created it, so im definatly not using this one.
This Next logo is getting closer to the final design that we're looking for, it shows quite a decent understanding of photoshop and took alot longer to make than all the previous logos. I still feel that this is for some sort of childs movie, perhaps a PG and ours is aimed towards a much older and mature audience so I shall construct more logos till I find one which matches this description.
I decided to take the above logo and make it darker and gloomier to make it more of a thriller sort of production company.
I went for the black background and it maked it look alot better than the previous logos.
This logo was created on a very complext programme called 'cinema 4D' in which is allows you to create very techniqual 3D text. but we still feel as though it needs to be darker and have more of a thriller 'edge' to it.
This Oaktree productions is probably one of the best logos Ive made, however it is definatly aimed more towards the younger audience so we wont be able to use it. oaktree productions is an alternative production company me and my group were going to use.
Our whole group had a go at creating logos and one of my group members made a more realistic, thriller genre sort of oaktree productions so that is the one we will be using in our trailer.

I am Number 4
I am Number 4
In this movie trailer institutional information is shown at the beginning
On YouTube the trailer is titled ‘teaser’ but it may not be, it could be a teaser trailer thought because instead of saying a specific date the movie is coming out it just says ‘coming soon’ which will leave the audience in suspense, wanting to know when the movie is in fact coming out.
The main character does the voice over which seems to be quite regular in most teaser trailers I have seen, also the sound seems to progress in pace, at the beginning the music/sound is very slow and then as the trailer goes on it gets a lot heavier and faster and turns into rock music at the beginning, there is a pause before the rock music kicks in which causes suspense as if to say ‘oh my god, what’s happening now’ and then it kicks in and you’re like ‘wow’ the rock music seems to provide me with a cool heroic sort of vision in my mind. Like whenever I hear that type of music I think of heroes and powerful beings. Most sounds in the trailer are diagetic.
There is a very faint blur which seems to be blacked out around the edges of the screen which create a sort of ‘fish eye’ effect only without magnification. There are blurred images; slow cuts go in time with the slow paced music and then when the rock music kicks in the cuts become a lot more fast paced.
There is a POV at the beginning which makes you feel as though you are the character. A lot of long shots and mid shots, close ups on objects of significance such as a gun, and the main characters, his hands glow when he’s using his power, this shows the sci-fi aspect of the movie.
You get the feeling that this is a heroic type of film, and just by watching you get the image it’s a sci-fi and wouldn’t happen in real life like his hands glowing where his power would come from.
Jumper Movie Trailer Analysis
Jumper Movie Trailer Analysis
Jumper makes good use of their own tagline ‘Anywhere is possible’ as they transfer it onto a simplistic poster as well and everyone will know the tagline ‘anywhere is possible’ from the movie ‘jumper’
The teaser trailer uses a voice over at the beginning of the trailer, which is what I was planning to do in my trailer but use a voice over more to the end of the trailer so it gives more of a set up to the storyline.
When the movie is playing without sound from things such as editing, camera angles/shots and mis-en-scene we know this movie is going to be fast paced but has a hint of soft, key parts in the trailer which are sort of romantic and quite. We know this movie is mainly action packed because of the mis-en-scene and editing, editing is fast paced, and quick, there are a lot of quick cuts, the more serious parts of the trailer have long cuts.
There are lots of closes ups in the film on parts which are of some significance. There is one part of the teaser trailer which really caught my eye and it’s a part when there is a close up on the main character, it then zooms out to an establishing shot, this shows his ability to ‘jump’ and goes with the tagline of the movie ‘anywhere is possible’
There seems to be a variety of locations and this again has reference to ‘anywhere is possible’ also there is a close up on an object of significance and it’s a world map with a lot of pins on it which shows a lot of different locations have been travelled to.
We know that a main character in the film wants to ‘kill’ the ‘jumpers’ as he believed only god should poses the power to teleport, this line is in the trailer used my Samuel Jackson and it gives a crucial part of the film away and helps us with the narrative and tells us what the film is partly about we also know that this line is true in the movie from close ups of props, such at the lightening spike used to stop jumpers from jumping.
When the main character ‘jumps’ you get a blurred effect which is left behind for a few milliseconds after he has jumped,
I’m going to have to pay close attention to editing like this as in my trailer I plan to have a jump effect like this movie does, only difference is I will be involving a mobile phone. In order to signify this object and try and make this film more modern instead of this blurred effect you get when jumping I may include a flash, when my main character teleports. a flash would be a lot easier to carry out on the editing software as you can make the surface area of the flash quite big so you don’t actually see as much of the actual teleporting, it’ll be like a shot of the main character answering phone, then a flash, then a shot of the room empty so it appears he has teleported, this will be worst case scenario if I cant find another away to ‘teleport’ my character because it may get too complicated when it doesn’t actually have to be and I can make the final outcome of the teleport quite effective with just a flash.
At the end of the trailer it shows the word ‘jumpr’ – jumper abbreviated and then it does the ‘jump’ effect I was just talking about and it turns into ‘jumper’ which is quite a nice effect and goes with the rest of the film and the editors of the film have tried to portray this edit through the whole film and it can be used as a sort of trademark
As usual, such as in other trailers, institutional information is shown in-between clips of the film towards the end of the movie, the editors have tried to catch your eye with the film at the beginning of the trailer and then it’s as if they’re saying ‘right now you’re interested, here’s some information in who made the movie and when it’s out’ so they put clips in-between the information to keep you ‘hooked’ to the television and not miss any crucial points in the trailer.
Another point on editing , when the main star ‘jumps’ somewhere else he fades very quickly then reappears very quickly, not really a flash, just a very quick fade in and out, this shows the ‘sci-fi’ aspect of the film as you wouldn’t see it in real life, you see sort of a bubbly effect on the outline of the characters when they jump, but the ‘bubbles’ are only visible for a few milliseconds.
