From left of the 'max payne' it's clear to see that the story seems slightly exagerated in order to attract more readers than an un exagerated story would.
the colour yellow stands out against the dark colours of the magazine so the consumers eye will be attracted towards these colours.
the main photograph and main text shows the readers what they're going to read, it's the focus of the magazine and it's probably what they're going to be seeing throughout the whole magazine. the fact that this film in particular is on the front cover shows that this is the film which seems to be the most popular or they would have used a different film for a front cover of a very popular magazine.
The text of 'max payne' give an implication as to what the genre of the film could be, i.e action
the fact he is holding guns again gives an implication as to what the genre of the film is, action/thriller based genre
the magazine is trying to give a 3D effect with the gun almost popping out of the page, this could be promoting the film in 3D too aswell as giving a cool effect.
the gun and the colours give us an idea of the target audience, middle aged men. as these are the sort of things you would expect them to be interested in.
